6 weeks at the Boston University Research in Science and Engineering Summer Program

After 6 weeks at Boston University conducting research at Boston University’s RISE program, I’ve had a fulfilling and eye-opening summer. The freedom and diversity of people I got to meet in the program provided was unlike any other experience I’ve had in high school. Getting to explore Boston, from riding the T to visiting beaches independently, makes me excited for what a whole 4 years at college has to offer.

At the same time, I got to see the revolutionary work being done in university labs. Working in Professor Ranzani’s lab in the Morphable Biorobotics lab and being mentored by PHD student Jacob Rogatinsky, I gained experience in professional lab setting research. The work going on is both interesting and already being applied in the real world, and it makes me excited to see what their lab will produce in the future. I personally worked on fabricating 3DOF Stacked Balloon Actuators and exploring their applications. All the while, I made friends with people from around the United States and even a few international students.
